From the first book to the last the Codex Alera series is probably Jim Butcher's best work. There are no weak books, no fillers, nothing shoved out to make the publisher happy. Start from the first book in this series and go to the last and the quality is there all the way through. A top notch fantasy series all around and this book only, somehow, manages to up the stakes once again.

Another Very Good Book in the Series

"Captain's Fury" is the 4th book in Butcher's "Codex Alera" series. As with the other books in this series (and with his "Dresden Files" series, too), it's a very good book that's very well written and is very engrossing. It picks up about two years after the previous book and continues with Tavi's development (and, by now, we all know where it's going). My only nit with the book is that two of the three story-lines involve a bit more "slogging through the woods" than I'd like. It's not a big problem, but it's enough to make the book not quite as good as the previous one. So, I'm rating this book at a Very Good 4 stars out of 5.
